Brewster Adventures

Experience the true outdoors with this 4 day backcountry horseback trip. Truly unforgettable riding through the awe-inspiring magnificence of the Ghost River area, bordering Banff National Park. Explore Black Rock Mountain, climb the shoulders of Yamnuska Mountain and wonder at the vista of Orient Peak. Horses, guides, meals, and cabin accommodations with all bedding are provided. Guests can simply relax and enjoy the scenery.

What you can expect

First Day
Your adventure starts with a 6 to 7 hour ride on well kept switchback trails, over the ridge of Mount Yamnuska. With a breathtaking view of the Bow Valley, you continue over the back side of the mountain travelling through wooded areas. Your guide will take you through quiet creek crossings, over majestic ridges with spectacular views, and finally through dense forests to a quaint cabin site named after an old Brewster Family friend, who had the original cabin in this private mountain location.

Spend the evening around a campfire sharing stories, while enjoying a traditional cowboy dinner. When you are ready to retire for the evening, head for your cabin, which will already be equipped with bedding. Cabins can accommodate up to four people.

Second Day
Continue Northwest to the famed Brewster Company Ranch, Meadow Creek. This has been the winter grazing grounds for Brewster horses since the early 1900’s.

You will climb mountain passes, keeping an eye out for rocky mountain big horn sheep, deer, elk, and possibly even wild horses. Traveling through meandering river bottoms, and encountering beaver dams will keep you riding tall in your saddle all day. This 5 to 6 hour excursion will bring you to the Meadow Creek Cabins, with its panoramic vista of Black Rock Mountain and surrounding mountain ranges. Enjoy a few stories around the campfire under a beautiful starlit sky. If you are lucky you will even hear the Meadow Creek wolf pack, as they astound you with their calls.

Third Day
Explore the natural beauty of the area, before departing back to Hussey's for one last night together. Southward and across the Ghost River, with rugged peaks as a magnificent backdrop, you travel the old horse trails exploring the splendor that is the Canadian Rocky Mountains before departing back on your journey to Hussey's.

Fourth Day
Pack up for your last day on the trail. Today's trail leads you along grassy ridges beneath the watchful eye of ancient snow covered peaks, back to the Ranch with a memorable adventure fresh in your mind and a picturesque view of Mount Yamnuska.
