This unforgettable journey begins calmly, allowing rafters to familiarize themselves with the raft, paddles and guides commands. Enjoy the serene upper section of the Kicking Horse River before heading into the mighty rapids of the middle canyon. As the Canyon narrows, the waves build, taking rafters on white water journey through class 4 rapids, finishing 20km downstream! This trip is perfect for the first time rafter.

What you can expect

Your rafting trip includes all river rafting gear (wetsuit, fleece, spray jacket, life jacket, neoprene booties and helmet), BBQ lunch, drinks, dessert and instruction.

Meet at Hydra River Base for your designated tour time. Enjoy 2 - 2.5 hours of Kicking Horse River time before heading back to the Hydra rafting base to enjoy a delicious BBQ lunch and view a slide show of your rafting photos!
The morning trip (AM) will enjoy lunch after their rafting trip. The afternoon trip (PM) will enjoy lunch before their rafting trip (at 1pm).

  • This trip is perfect for first time rafters and no previous rafting experience is necessary
  • Transport is available for the 9:15am trip from Banff and Lake Louise for an additional cost

Driving directions

  • Drive times: Calgary - 3 Hours, Lake Louise - 40 minutes, Banff - 1.25 Hours, Radium Hot Springs - 1.25 Hours, Revelstoke, BC - 2 hours, Kamloops, BC - 4.5 Hours
  • Driving Directions from Calgary / Banff / Lake Louise - Travel west on the Trans Canada Highway (Hwy #1) past Banff and past the Lake Louise turnoff. Keep on the highway and you will pass a town called Field, approx 20 minutes after field you will leave Yoho National Park. Take the next right turn onto Beaver Foot Road (via underpass, off hwy). Look for Hydra signage. Cross over railway tracks and then over a bridge. Turn right onto Kicking Horse Road. Our site is the first driveway on the right, past the cabins with red roofs. Look for the Hydra sign.
  • Driving Directions from Golden - Take Hwy #1 East from Golden. Base located approximately 25 kms or 20 minutes from Golden. Look for a right hand turn called Beaver Foot Road. (A gravel road to your right). Turn right down Beaver Foot Road. Cross over railway tracks and then over a bridge. At the first intersection, turn right onto "Kicking Horse Rd". Our site is the first driveway on the right, past the cabins with the red roofs. Look for the Hydra sign.*Don't forget: Golden is on Mountain Standard Time (same as Alberta)
