Illecillewaet River Rafting

Rafting

Apex Raft Company

Surrounded by the stunning Selkirk Mountains, the Illecillewaet is a tributary of the Columbia River and is fed by the Illecillewaet Glacier in Glacier National Park. River rafting down this beautiful winding stretch of river allows you to take in scenery that you would never otherwise get to see. Enjoy river rafting down 24kms of pristine whitewater.

What you can expect

Get the paper work out of the way - Sign release/waiver prior to the trip
The rafting bus will pick you up at the hotel and take you through the historic Rogers Pass, 35kms east of Revelstoke, to river access below Albert Canyon.
On the ride up, your guides will deliver a safety briefing.
Once at the riverside you are given an instructional/safety briefing to help prepare for your adventure and then you’re ready to go rafting!
Time on the river is somewhere between 2 and 2.5 hours, depending on current river flows.
After your river adventure, the rafting bus will meet you at the Take Out.
Enjoy a light snack of pastries and fruit while the guides load boats and collect life jackets and helmets.
A short bus ride back will return you to the Regent Hotel.
You have the option to change back into your street clothes or go straight into the hotel hot tub for a quick soak.

Restrictions

  • Minimum age varies with river conditions. In high water levels the minimum age to raft is 12 years but as the summer progresses the river will gradually have less water and can be suitable for younger children.
  • There is always the possibility that we may have to raise the minimum age on the actual day of the trip if river conditions have changed enough to unreasonably compromise the safety of younger participants. If that happens there will of course be no charge for anyone in your party who no longer wishes to join the trip.
  • Rafters 17 and younger must have a parent or guardian co-sign waver prior to raft departure.
  • The minimum weight to be able to raft is 50 lbs regardless of age.
  • All guests must sign a waiver prior to departure.
