Experiencing the joy of heli skiing has never been so easy! The Powder Excursion is a single day option that is ideal for people who want to try the sport for the first time. A relaxed pace to the day allows you to discover just how fantastic heli skiing really is.

What you can expect

On the evening before your heli day, stop by the Retail Shop (lower level of Hillcrest Hotel) before 6:30pm to be ahead of the game! Register, fill out a waiver, and select skis or a snowboard to use. If you’re unable to make it the night before, please arrive at 7:30am on the morning of your ski day to get organized.

How your Heli Day will unfold:

7:30 am Registration: Register with a Day Heli Agent in the retail shop. If using our rental skis, bring one ski boot so our ski technicians can adjust the bindings.

7:30-8:15 am Breakfast: Enjoy your full buffet breakfast in the Dining Room on the main floor of the hotel. Please check in with the host(ess) before sitting down.

8:15 am Avalanche Airbag rentals: (Optional) Guests wishing to rent an avalanche airbag packpack ($34/ day)

8:30 am Meet your: Your guide will meet you in the retail shop for safety pack and avalanche tranceiver distribution. Be ready to ski with your ski/ board boots on. Ski techs will have your rental skis/ boards will ready be in the racks outside beside the vans.

8:45 am Safety training: Your guide will lead you through a backcountry safety briefing before meeting the helicopter for an orientation of the machine. Once the training is complete your group will either load the helicopter directly or you will be transported by van to a staging area for pickup.

10:00 am Heli Skiing: Lift for first runs. Break up the ski day with a delicious lunch in the mountains. Continue skiing until your package is complete.

3:00 -4:00 pm Après-ski - Return to Coast Hillcrest Resort for check-out at the retail shop followed by gourmet snacks and beverages.

  • Ski and snowboard rentals are included in your package. Guest can use their own equipment if they prefer but rental gear is specific for powder conditions. Do not rent ski or snowboard boots – please rent from a third party or bring your own
  • Ski technicians require one boot to set up skis.
  • Guests may carry small personal items in their pack for the day if necessary. Due to weight constraints and space limitations of the helicopter, we do not allow guests to bring additional packs or heavy items

Dietary requirements

  • Catered lunches are ordered from a local café the day prior to your trip. Please include any dietary restrictions on your booking form during registration
  • Breakfast and après ski buffets offer a wide selection of food items. If you have trouble finding something that suits your needs, a server will be happy to help

  • Runs Wednesdays each week with potential to run more days a week depending on availability

Meet location

Main Base is the Coast Hillcrest Hotel, located just off the Trans Canada Highway, 7 kilometers east of the main turnoff into Revelstoke.

Driving directions

  • If driving from the East you will see the large blue Hillcrest Hotel sign on the left hand side prior to reaching Revelstoke.If driving from the west, keep driving past the turnoffs to get into Revelstoke and you will then see the sign on your right hand side. Oak Drive is the road leading off the Trans Canada at this point and it will lead you directly to the Hotel.
  • Please be sure to check www.drivebc.ca before you start your drive to Revelstoke to keep up to date on the latest road conditions.
  • Sutton Place Hotel Shuttle: If you are staying at the Sutton Place Hotel at the base of Revelstoke Mountain Resort, please contact us 24 hours prior to your trip to book a complimentary shuttle. This shuttle departs from the Sutton Place Hotel at 7:15am and returns from Selkirk Tangiers around 5:00pm.Taxi Service: There are two main taxi services operating in Revelstoke.   • Each guest is required to sign an industry standard Release of Liability Waiver form at our location prior to skiing

Cancellation / Refund

  • While it is the goal to provide the guests the full ski package booked, some circumstances necessitate cancellation of the heli-ski day. There are many factors that effect if the day will be cancelled including but not limited to: inclement weather, mechanical helicopter reasons or avalanche conditions. If cancellation occurs, you will be provided with a partial or full refund, depending on the scenario
  • If Selkirk Tangiers cancels the day before your trip, they will try and rebook your group if possible. If rebooking is not an option, they will issue each guest a 100% refund.
  • If the decision is made to cancel by the time you arrive for 7:30 check-in, a 100% refund will be provided if rebooking is not an option. You can enjoy a complimentary breakfast and bagged lunch
  • If the decision is made to cancel after breakfast and safety training, a $100 administration fee will be kept, with the remaining balance refunded to each guest. The administration fee can be used as a credit towards your next Selkirk Tangiers reservation; it will be non-transferrable and valid for two years. This will be provided as a voucher directly from STHS to each guest via email and/or in person. A bagged lunch and a lift ticket to Revelstoke Mountain Resort will also be provided. This lift ticket is valid any day of the current season, but is non-transferrable and cannot be resold
  • If you start skiing but the guaranteed number of runs cannot be reached, you will be refunded $160 plus tax (the extra run rate) for each run not achieved. This will be refunded directly to the client at the checkout in the retail shop.
  • In the worst case scenario of only skiing 1 run and rebooking is not an option, they will charge a flat rate of $435+tax for all one day packages. The remaining balance will be refunded to your credit card in the days following your cancelled package. You will also receive a $100 credit voucher that can be used as a credit towards your next Selkirk Tangiers reservation; it will be non-transferrable and valid for two years. This voucher will be sent via email. A bagged lunch and a lift ticket to Revelstoke Mountain Resort will also be provided. This lift ticket is valid any day of the current season, but is non-transferrable and cannot be resold. If you booked through a wholesale agent, refunds for the above scenarios will be delivered by the wholesale agent to you
