Your adventure starts with a 10 minute gondola ride to 885 metres above sea level. The ride up to the summit provides sweeping views of Howe Sound, the majestic coastal forest and surrounding mountains. The gondola is a thrilling adventure for all ages and provides new views of Shannon Falls, Howe Sound and the famous Squamish Chief climbing area.

What you can expect

The ride up to our summit provides sweeping views of Howe Sound, the majestic coastal forest and surrounding mountains. Every gondola cabin has a maximum capacity of 8 passengers and a level entrance/exit point, making them wheelchair and stroller accessible.

The gondolas were custom-made by Austrian manufacturer, Doppelmayr, and have comfortable padded seats and floor to ceiling glass windows for maximum views. The ride up and down is a thrilling adventure for all ages and provides new views of Shannon Falls and the famous Squamish Chief climbing area.

Once at the top, many other adventures await. You will have access to a wide array of outdoor experiences including two different interpretive loop walking trails with cantilevered viewing platforms, the spectacular Sky Pilot Suspension Bridge, numerous hiking trails, rock climbing, access trails to backcountry routes and much more.

Weather requirements

  • Know before you go! The gondola is subject to unscheduled closures due to weather. Check our website, or check in with Guest Services if the gondola is part of your hiking plan. You need to be prepared for a 2-way hike. Use extra diligence during weather events, including forecasted outflow winds.

  • Small children require close adult supervision, particularly off trail and around tree wells

Driving directions

  • Considered one of the world's most beautiful drives, the world famous "Sea to Sky Highway" is your route to come and visit!
  • It takes you from downtown Vancouver through Stanley Park, over the Lions Gate Bridge, and along the upper levels of West Vancouver into the Sea to Sky Corridor, which starts at Horseshoe Bay
  • Sea to Sky Gondola is located directly on the highway after the first traffic lights for Shannon Falls Provincial Park (approximately 1 hour from downtown Vancouver and 40 minutes from West Vancouver) between Shannon Falls Provincial Park and the Stawamus Chief Provincial Park
  • Certain bus lines also provide transportation from Vancouver to Squamish: Greyhound, Pacific Coach, Perimeter, and Landsea Tours Shuttle
