Ski & Snowboard Design & Production

Unique Experiences

Whistler Adventure School

Design and build your own custom skis or board in a private production facility. Select your graphics, length, rocker/camber using a proven template and carve out your new ride.

What you can expect

Have you ever wanted to design and build your own custom skis or snowboard? Whistler Adventure School now offers a course aimed at those who are here on vacation or want to look into ski and snowboard construction. In this course, students will learn ski building from a hands-on approach, using industry-standard machinery. Upon departure, the student will have a completed ski or snowboard.

Students are guided through the process by an expert ski and board builder to ensure a high-quality, finished product. Students can design their own top sheets in advance of the course and upon arrival, decide on the length, rocker type, sidecut, flex pattern and combine this using one of our tested and proven templates.

Greg Funk of Funk skis will assist in any part of the construction process that students need help with. The layering, pressing and finishing of the skis and snowboards will be completed by the students with guidance from Greg.

Your skis or boards after pressing will be finished in the lab and ready for mounting and tuning. From start to finish, you can be ready to ride in just mere days. The tuning & mounting of new skis and boards normally takes a few extra days after the course has finished.

Top Sheet Design

Option One:
Select a pre-designed topsheet.

Option Two:
Before you arrive at your first class for the Ski & Snowboard Production Course you may wish to design a custom topsheet.
Your final design has to be provided minimum two weeks before your first class.

If you wish to prepare in advance WAS provides detailed instructions upon course enrollment. However, the following is suggested:
Gathering the high resolution files you wish to use in your top sheet design and prepare your top sheet in Photoshop.

The following list outlines acceptable formats for topsheet graphics:

  1. Adobe Photoshop files (.psd)
  2. Adobe Illustrator files (.eps)

A typical ski or snowboard graphic must stretch to 140-190cm in order to cover the surface length. RAW file types are preferred as they can be scaled to a typical ski/board length with little distortion.
