Glacier Glissading

Unique Experiences

Mountain Skills Academy & Adventures

A glacier adventure like no other! Experience the most memorable and uniquely Canadian activity one can enjoy in the mountains. If you didn't get your snow fix in the winter, Glacier Glissading provides a unique thrill of sliding down glacier snow in the summer, combined with an interpretive discovery of a 10 000+ year old glacier.

What you can expect

The tour will begin at the mountaintop office located on Whistler Mountain. At the office you will meet your guide, sign a waiver, and be outfitted with your glacier glissading travel gear.

Next is a walk across either a beautiful alpine snow slope or a breathtaking glacial moraine and wildflower meadow (depending on the time of year and mountain conditions) as you approach the Whistler bowl, glacial cirque and glacier. As you look up at the bowl you will see the 2160m Whistler Peak.

Along the walk you can take advantage of the world-class photo opportunities of the pacific coast mountain ranges. An interpretive account of glacial formation, local history, flora and fauna will be given. Your guide then will lead you up the glacier, making easy snow steps for you to follow up a gentle slope. Depending on your comfort level, you can choose to slide down a lower angled slope or a steeper faster one. You will also have the opportunity to do this more than once!

The tour will then conclude with a walk back to the mountaintop office.
