Location: Garibaldi Park – adjacent to Whistler Blackcomb ski areas
Duration: 1 full day

Availability is weather dependent and may change between seasons.

Itinerary:
Meet your guide at the Mountain Skills Academy & Adventures office at 8:00am
Trip briefing and gear check
Load gondola at 9:00am
Lunch break at around noon
Ride until around 4:00pm
Meet at Whistler Village for a trip debrief and collection of all rented gear

  • Touring skis / splitboard and skins
  • Ski / snowboard boots
  • Poles
  • Lift pass: $59 backcountry lift ticket available
  • Backpack suitable for touring – 28L
  • Weatherproof shell jacket and pants – dress for a day of riding in the alpine
  • Warm under layer(s)
  • Gloves
  • Winter hat/toque
  • Helmet
  • Goggles and/or sunglasses
  • Sunscreen
  • Water (at least 1 litre)
  • Lunch and snacks
  • Camera
  • You are welcome to bring your own avalanche safety equipment

Weather requirements

  • At the top of the Gondola you step out into the great Canadian alpine where weather and conditions can change fast – it is good to be prepared

Notes

  • Geared for intermediate, advanced and expert skiers or snowboarders
  • Participants must be comfortable and confident in intermediate terrain [blue runs] in a variety of snow conditions. Skiers, telemarkers and snowboarders welcome
  • Groups can expect 3 – 5 runs and up to 5,000 ft of vertical descent for the day depending on ability and fitness level
  • 6 to 1 client to guide ratio
  • Avalanche safety equipment included : digital tranceiver, shovel and probe

Restrictions

  • Participants must be comfortable and confident skiing blue (intermediate) runs in variable conditions. No backcountry experience is required

Cancellation / Refund

  • Within 24 hours: Cancellation notice will result in a 100% forfeit of tuition, no reschedule.
  • Outside of 24 hours: $25 rescheduling fee per booking or full refund.
